The Skeeter Defeater is brought to you by Outdoor Solutions, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary company of NCH Corporation. Outdoor Solutions, Inc. specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of products that incorporate innovative technology and proven science to produce extraordinary solutions which enhance outdoor living.

Different Mosquito Killer - The Skeeter Defeater does more to help fight against mosquitoes by spraying when mosquitoes are most active, at Dusk and Dawn. And the best part? It sprays automatically. Also, unlike a mosquito repellent, the Skeeter Defeater kills mosquitoes so they don't come back. And unlike other mosquito control products, you don't have to deal with open flames, propane tanks, candles, nets, zappers, attractants or mosquito body sprays.

What's It Spraying? Pyrethrin Botanical Insecticide

The Skeeter Defeater® Dispenser only works when used with the Skeeter Defeater Cylinder Refill Unit (CRU). The CRU provides the spray for your Skeeter Defeater, using a botanical insecticide known as pyrethrin.

    Key facts about Pyrethrin:

    • It's derived from chrysanthemum daisies
    • It's long been used to fight mosquitoes (and most other flying insects)
    • It's botanical, and will not accumulate in the environment (depending on sunlight, it normally burns off within two hours). Don't be fooled - there are synthetic forms of this extract in other products (pyrethroids, permethrin) that will accumulate in the environment
    • It works, killing mosquitoes on contact.
    • Because it's botanical, mosquitoes almost never build up a tolerance (unlike some synthetic versions)
    Pyrethrin Botanical Insecticide

Combining a effective insecticide like pyrethrin with the unique, patent-pending delivery system of the Skeeter Defeater is what makes this product so clever. .

Each Cylinder Refill Unit (CRU) contains enough insecticide for 66 sprays. In other words, if you spray at dusk and dawn, each CRU contains 33 days worth of insecticide to kill mosquitoes.Learn more about the CRU here.

Where Can I Use my Skeeter Defeater®?

Mosquito Killer, Mosquito Spray - Skeeter Defeater Mosquito Defense Unit

The Skeeter Defeater® Mosquito Defense Unit works very well in many outdoor settings. Hang the Dispenser six feet above the ground, out of reach of children and pets, or place on a sturdy flat surface five to six feet above the ground. The Skeeter Defeater Dispenser hangs easily from shepherd's hooks, fence posts, awnings and other similar hardware. And because it has a flat base, you can also set the Skeeter Defeater Dispenser on high ledges, columns and other high surfaces.

Keys to Proper Skeeter Defeater Dispenser Placement:

    • Hang the Dispenser six feet high, or place on a flat surface five to six feet high.
    • Aim the Dispenser downwind to be most effective.
    • Try hanging it on shepherd's hooks, fence posts or from awnings.
    • Pick the areas where you spend the most time, and place Dispenser so spray head is pointed toward the area you wish to treat.
    • Even though the Dispenser only sprays one way, the mist will be effective 360 degrees around the Dispenser. (See Diagram Below)

Important: when the Dispenser is set to "DUSK/DAWN + Remote" power setting, the unit must be placed in direct sunlight to perform at an optimal level. The DUSK/DAWN sensor is a highly advanced device that measures even the smallest changes in light. Works Hands FreeBy placing the unit in direct sunlight, you allow for the Dispenser to receive the best possible information when determining dusk and dawn each day. With this in mind, it is best to not place the Dispenser in heavily shaded areas.

Direct the Nozzle to spray toward the target area, and away from swimming pools, water bodies, and eating and cooking areas. One Skeeter Defeater Dispenser effectively treats up to 300 sq. ft. Even though the Skeeter Defeater sprays in one direction, the insecticide will disperse and actually cover 360 degrees around the Dispenser when used in proper weather conditions. The diagram above shows a typical yard and the possible coverage areas for one Skeeter Defeater Dispenser.

Multiple Dispensers may be used to treat an entire outdoor area (and can be controlled by a single Remote Control), but do not use more than one dispenser for every 300 square feet of space. To reduce wind exposure, some people point the Skeeter Defeater Dispenser toward their house, and then allow the insecticide to rebound off the walls and cover additional areas in the yard.

You can use the Skeeter Defeater almost anywhere!

    • On your deck or patio.
    • While camping, hunting, or RVing
    • At the lake
    • Near the garage
    • Around outdoor worksites
    • Any other listed environment on the CRU label

What Makes it Different from Everything Else?

With mosquitoes becoming a bigger problem every year, and with the growing fear of mosquito-borne diseases prompting huge public reactions, the market for mosquito management products is one of the fastest growing in the outdoor living industry. There are a multitude of products you can choose from, and some of them are relatively effective at how they specifically address the issue. However, the Skeeter Defeater® Automatic Dispenser is a one-of-a-kind solution that combines sophisticated technology with attractive simplicity that people really like.

Here's what really makes the Skeeter Defeater® Automatic Dispenser stand out:

    • It sprays automatically at dusk and dawn. The patent-pending spray technology allows for daily insecticide release at the precise time when mosquito activity is at its highest. The DUSK/DAWN® sensor is a revolutionary mosquito management device that only Outdoor Solutions, Inc. can offer.
    • It covers up to 300 square feet. The four second spray sequence distributes the pyrethrin-based insecticide up to 300 square feet around the Dispenser. It's perfect to cover yards, decks and patios - wherever you spend the most time in your yard.
    • It's portable and affordable. The flexibility of the Skeeter Defeater Automatic Dispenser truly sets it apart. Because it's light-weight and battery-powered, it's portable- campsites, job locations, vacations and many other listed areas.! And since it's so much more affordable than larger misting systems and attractants, it's a match for any budget.

It's also helpful to realize what the Skeeter Defeater® is NOT, to truly understand how special it is.

    In summary, it's not . . .

    • A body spray - they can get messy and smelly, and you have to keep applying them.
    • A candle - open flames can be dangerous and require your presence.
    • A trap or attractant - We don't believe in attracting MORE mosquitoes to your yard. What happens to all those pests these units DON'T trap?
    • A home-installation system - Can be expensive for some (over $2,000!), and it's not portable.
    • A repellent - Make no mistake, the Skeeter Defeater insecticide kills mosquitoes on contact - it doesn't repel them so they can try again another day.
    • A bug zapper - Tell the truth: do you really like hearing that zapping noise all night, or the tint of neon blue on your porch? Plus, the light can sometimes attract more bugs into your area.
