Local Grower with a Vertical Slant.  
Urban Green Produce is the brainchild of Albertan Rusty Mckay who grew up on a farm in Ottawa, Ontario. He did not take on the family farm but rather pursued a career as a surveyor in Alberta. However, a love for “growing things” stayed with him.

Today, the company has built a two storey grow room in a Calgary warehouse that can house up to 108 grow units, some stacked vertically on the first floor. The second floor will house grow tables with overhead lighting systems that will grow spinach. The company’s mission is to put quality, pesticide-free basil and baby spinach on the grocery shelves, picked in the last day not 10 days. Urban Green Produce will deliver cases of produce direct to stores in Calgary on a daily basis as required.
