After growing up and working full time for 15 years at another wholesale nursery, I began Marshalls' Riverbank Nurseries in 1999 on 4 acres on our family farm.
Over the past 9 years, we have grown into a 35-acre container nursery with an emphasis on evergreen and flowering shrubs, perennials and ornamental grasses. It currently takes 26 people in season to operate our nursery. Our plant mix includes Azaleas, Barberry, Boxwood, Crape Myrtle, Hydrangea, Ilex, Junipers, Leyland Cypress, Nandina, Ornamental Grasses, Perennials, Pieris, Rhododendron, Spiraea, and more. We grow perennials in #1, 2, and 3 containers and shrubs in #2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 20 containers. All material is winter protected in hoop houses covered with white poly.
It would be easier to grow fewer items in fewer container sizes but we have been successful in part by offering Garden Centers, Landscapers, and Re-Wholesalers a wide selection of items in a large selection of sizes.
The real reason for our success is the quality of our plant material and our ability to get it to you when you need it.
Quality plant material is something that all nurseries claim to have. I believe the key difference at Marshalls' Riverbank Nurseries is the care to grow plants that are very consistent every year and the selection of the plant material for your order. We will forgo a sale rather than send you plant material that is not up to snuff.
At Marshalls' Riverbank Nurseries when a customer orders 10, 25 or any quantity of a plant, we work very hard to select each plant in that order to make sure it is the correct size, the expected fullness and each plant looks as identical as possible to every other plant in that group. Every group of plants, every time. If we are unable to fill the quantity of your order we will contact you to make the appropriate changes so you will not be surprised when your order arrives.
This attention to detail in the years of growing the plants and when preparing your order is what makes Marshalls' Riverbank Nurseries a quality supplier of plant material for your Garden Center, Landscape Job, or Re-Wholesale Yard.
To get your order to you, we have 3 shelved trucks to deliver your order in a reasonable amount of time. From Northern Virginia to Connecticut that is usually 2-4 days from order to delivery in our March to November shipping Season. Freight is 10 % or less from Northern Virginia to North New Jersey, and 10-12 % for New York, Connecticut, Western Pennsylvania, and 12 % plus for Ohio, Michigan and New England.
