NJ Agricultural Society

Preserving and Enhancing Farming and Agriculture in New Jersey
The New Jersey Agricultural Society is the oldest agricultural organization of its type in the nation. Established in 1781, its mission is to preserve and enhance agriculture, farming, and related activities and businesses in NJ through educational, informational, and promotional programs.

Come Grow with Us!
The Learning Through Gardening program provides schools with the materials to build vegetable gardens and gives teachers the curriculum, training and support they need to merge their school garden with the core curriculum. In the past 20 years, Learning Through Gardening has launched elementary school gardens, throughout New Jersey, in urban, suburban, and rural neighborhoods. Teachers and schools apply to become part of a three-year Growing Together affiliation, which today includes a network of schools statewide. We believe that if children are educated about the abundant fruits and vegetables grown in New Jersey and their health benefits, they are more likely to become avid, lifelong consumers of fresh produce and advocates for agriculture. Growing is Knowing!
