    Why won’t my sprayer spray?

We usually ask if the sprayer is holding pressure and nothing is coming out.  If that is the case, we walk the customer through the process of troubleshooting their shutoff handle after releasing pressure from the tank.

How do I service my sprayer?

We recommend lubricating the pump several times each spraying season.  In the event there is a problem, call Customer Service.

How do I lubricate my pump?

Drop 8-10 drops of lightweight oil down around where the pump handle goes into the pump or disassemble the pump and lubricate the o-ring located at the bottom of the plunger rod with a generous coating of Vaseline.

How does my pump come apart?

Refer to our website for pump disassembly instructions.

How do I pressurize my sprayer?

You must pump the handle up and down until it gets difficult to pump.

How do I assemble my sprayer?

Refer to instructions in the user manual that came with the sprayer.

Can I spray bleach in my sprayer?

We don’t recommend spraying bleach unless it is the Chapin bleach sprayer.  Even with that particular model, we only recommend a 80/20 mixture.

Why can’t I close the lid on my 1949 sprayer all the way?

Put the pump back in the sprayer, lock the handle and turn to the left all the way until it stops.  At that point, the triangle piece should turn under the second lip.  There is also a video on our website that will walk a customer through proper pump installation.

Where can I buy parts in Canada?

Contact our Canadian parts distributor, Paysverco, at 450-699-3592.

What is the warranty on my sprayer and/or parts?

Lifetime on the tank, one year on parts.

Which chemicals can I spray in my sprayer?

It depends on the sprayer.  Call Customer Service for most up to date information.

Why is my stain spraying as a stream instead of a fan?  (deck sprayer use)

The stain is too thick.  Check stain application instructions (sometimes the only way to apply is with a brush).  Contact the stain manufacturer to determine if there is a way to thin the stain. If not, the customer can either return sprayer to the store for a refund or look into renting a power sprayer.

    Why won’t my backpack pressurize?

Many times it is because the piston collar has dried out.  Lubricate the piston collar with a generous coating of Vaseline.  If you continue to experience problems, contact Customer Service.

    Are Chapin sprayers FDA approved?

No, none of our sprayers are approved for use in food applications.

Is there an MSDS sheet for our sprayers?

No, Chapin sprayers do not require a MSDS sheet.

Why is my dripless extension wand dripping?

    Call Customer Service

Why don’t the cartons on the deck sprayer specify for use with products that are a thin watery consistency?

    Call Customer Service

How do I know what parts come with my sprayer?

Manual states “may or may not include”  Call Customer Service

Why is nothing coming out of the nozzle?

The nozzle may be clogged.  Clean the nozzle per chemical manufacturer instructions.  If you continue to experience problems.  Call Customer Service.

Why can’t I buy sprayers directly from Chapin?

The only sprayers that can be sold direct are listed under the sprayers for sale section on our website.

A Long Tradition of Quality Begins

In 1884, American homes were still illuminated with kerosene lamps and lanterns. In Oakfield, New York, young Ralph E. Chapin sold kerosene at the hardware store he ran with his brother-in-law, Frank Harris. But something bothered Ralph Chapin. Many of the cans his customers brought in to be filled with kerosene were so poorly made that they often leaked. So Mr. Chapin began making his own cans and selling them to his customers.

The demand for this product was so great that Mr. Chapin soon sold his hardware store and set up a manufacturing business in nearby Batavia. The company quickly expanded and began making 55-gallon storage tanks and pumps. In 1903, Chapin began making compressed air sprayers and hand sprayers.

Today, Chapin sprayers are still made from the best materials and exceed the most exacting industry standards. And Chapin products continue to perform safely and dependably, providing years of reliable service. Just as they have since 1884.

A Plant Designed For High Production

The one thing visitors notice first about Chapin headquarters? It's big. At over 700,000 square feet, our building comprises 15 acres of production efficiency.

Here, in this spacious, modern plant, Chapin sprayers are designed, fabricated, formed, assembled, coated, tested, packaged, stored and shipped to customers around the world. One of the world's largest sprayer manufacturing plants, our facilities were created to meet both current and future demands.

Each day, the Chapin team manufactures thousands of high quality sprayers for use in a wide range of applications. The depth and scope of our state-of-the-art manufacturing technology enables Chapin to respond quickly to customer needs.

Hands On Quality In Every Product

To be a successful company in any industry for over a hundred years takes more than the production of a high quality product. It takes generations of skilled craftsmen and dedicated employees working together with a great sense of pride in what they produce.

In order to measure up to demanding industrial and professional standards, every sprayer Chapin manufactures must pass strict quality control standards before it leaves the plant. The inherent quality of Chapin products comes from both the pride we put into them and their advanced design and construction.

Chapin is the only maker of metal compressed air sprayers to offer a 12-step computer controlled Tri-Poxy® coating process that inhibits corrosion and rust on all interior seams, welds, crevices, bottoms and walls. Famous for their strength and durability, all Chapin hoses are nylon webbed and tested to withstand high compressed air spraying pressure.

Chapin quality is also evident in the top priority we assign our customer service. Our friendly, helpful customer service staff is always pleased to give you prompt assistance and quickly provide the information, product, replacement parts, accessories, or service you need.
